Es ist wieder Zeit für „verliebt-verblogt-verheiratet – Blogger erzählen über ihre Hochzeit“! Und heute wird es ein bisschen Englisch, denn die wunderbare Brittany von The House That Lars Built ist heute an der Reihe! Große, sehr große Freude!
Die gebürtigen Amerikanerin lebt mit ihrem Mann in Kopenhagen und beschäftigt sich auf ihrem Blog mit Design und Kunst, besonderen Orten und ihren DIY-Projekten. Daneben schreibt Brittany auch für Oh Happy Day, Brooklyn Bride, Chalkboard Mag, design*sponge, Styled Mag und Kinfolk, wenn sie nicht gerade neue Artikel für ihren eignen Etsy-Shop herstellt.
Und ihre eigene Hochzeit, ja die war auch ein wahres DIY-Wunderwerk – seht selbst:
„I’m American and married a Danish man. Since we met in Copenhagen but were getting married in California, I wanted to bring some Scandinavian elements into our garden wedding. Our first date was at Tivoli, the charming amusement park, so I wanted to bring in some elements from it and focused on oversized paper flowers as centerpieces and my bouquet“, erzählt Brittany.
„I used my wedding as an excuse to get my craft on so with my mom and sister we did it ourselves. Well, and my friends. I had sent out 30 blank canvas banners to some creative friends and let them do whatever they wanted to it with a Scandinavian garden theme in a few select colors. Then we set them up around the garden space to act like an art exhibition. It was great fun to see what everyone came up with.“
„My mom was amazing and came up with the paper flowers that I had envisioned. We had oversized flowers for the centerpieces and the entrance. I painted pieces of burlap for the tablecloths. I painted my own invitation and got some rubber stamps made fort the envelope….“
„… and I painted a canvas curtain to act as a set for the band who are good friends of ours.“
Was für eine tolle Familien-Kooperation – alles selbst gemacht! Daneben hielt Brittanys Cousine Ali Degraff die Hochzeit als Fotografin auch in Bildern fest. Und dann hatte Brittany auch noch eine grandiose Freundin, die mit dem Kuchenbüffet half: „She made 19 different cakes, each one in a different flavor!“
Und was mir besonders gut gefällt: dass Brittany das Brautkleid ihrer Mutter trug! Eine Freundin hatte das Kleid modisch passend verjüngt, wie schön!
What was your favorite and most memorable wedding moment?
„There were a number of favorite moments, but looking back now, I’m still shocked that my husband danced! I haven’t seen that since!“
Any tipps for all future brides? Your wedding „must have“?
„Although I went all out crafting for my wedding, I would say to keep it simple and focus on why you are getting married and not how. Really, the event is to celebrate the union, but if you’re not remembering that then the celebration isn’t as fun.“
